#Kaylaversary One Year of BBG!

Today, on a #TransformationTuesday is my one year Kaylaversary! I’ve been doing BBG one year today and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. As in my previous post, I have been a yo-yo dieter and workout girl for all my adult (and even teen) life. When I came across Kayla Itsines from an internet search on motivational women in fitness to follow, I was immediately intrigued. I have always loved before and afters and this girls page was FILLED with thimg_1923em!

I watched and observed the BBG Community from a distance for awhile. I was in absolute awe of what these women were achieving, but I still doubted that it would work for me. I knew I could be healthier and in better shape, I had done it before! But the results from this BBG program were above and beyond what I thought my body was capable of becoming. img_2269-1I bought the first guide, started it, and it was HARD!! I don’t think I have ever been so sore! I LOVED IT!! I committed myself to get in all 3 resistance workouts and at least 2 LISS days a week. I was really good about it for the first 4 weeks, taking pictures every 2 weeks along the way and never intending to post them to Instagram.

I kept pushing and moving forward but then life would get in the way and I would only do one or two resistance training’s that week. I wanted to give it my all so I re-did the week altogether. If there is one thing I can say as an encouragement ladies, 12 weeks is a long time and things happen! There is no shame in redoing a week, progress is progress and you are moving in the right direction. img_3092

According to Instagram (loving the new dated posts!) it took me 17 weeks to get through the 12 week program! I have so much admiration for all you girls who 1-post your starting pictures! And 2-complete the 12 weeks in 12 actual weeks! You ladies are superstars and I am so inspired by each and every one of you!

Once I completed the 12 week program and posted to Instagram, I became more motivated and in my groove to keep pushing. Instead of going on to the 2nd guide, I decided to re-do the first guide. With more determination and support, I completed all 12 weeks, in 12 weeks! img_5505

With 2 rounds of BBG 1.0 under my belt, I moved on the the BBG 2.0 guide and continued on my way with better results and strength improvements every week. I EVEN SEE ABS- ON ME!! I never, ever thought I would have abs! I figured my body wasn’t built like that. But now I see it is possible, and I wholeheartedly attribute them to Kayla Itsines and her BBG Program.

All my doubting that I could be one of the afters has been debunked and a year later, I am so proud of how far I have come. I cannot wait to see how much further I can go. I am currently on BBG 3.0 in the Sweat App and incorporating weight training into my routine at the gym. I have made new friends and uncovered a passion that makes me happy & healthy. And THAT is the best gift. xo

My favorite things about BBG:img_0117

  • The strength and confidence it has given me, physically and mentally.
  • A true lifestyle of health and balance it’s provided me.
  • A physical transformation I never thought was possible.
  • BEST OF ALL the amazing supportive women of the BBG Community!

Questions I get asked most often:
What is BBG? BBG Stands for “Bikini Body Guide” a program developed by Kayla Itsines which is now found in her SWEAT with Kayla App. Honestly, of all the workouts I’ve done over the years, it is the best. I won’t say it’s easy, but from a time commitment standpoint, it is 30 minutes a day. It’s the most action packed, results driven 30 minutes you can invest in yourself.

img_4043 What motivates you? BE YOUR OWN MOTIVATION! I get my motivation day in and day out from the progress I see in the many, many progress pictures I take. I take progress pictures every 2 weeks. I don’t always post my progress but I do create a side by side so I can see it working. We are our own worst critics and we can’t always see the progress every day but when you take the pictures and put them side by side, there is no room to deny it’s working. The BBG community is also a huge motivation to me. When I don’t feel like working out or getting up, a quick scroll through Instagram and seeing all the other girls getting it done, really helps to motivate me and get me moving.

Do I recommend joining the BBG community? ABSOLUTELY! I can honestly say that when I became more active within the community, my motivation and drive kicked up to another level. Having so many women in your corner, cheering you on and encouraging you when you have a rough patch, that is how the change becomes a lifestyle.

Should you post on your personal account or create a second fitness account? That is totally up to you. Total honesty, I had no idea how to create a second account! Hehe. That being said, I have always looked at this as a part of me and my life and that is what my account is all about so I didn’t feel the need to make a new account. Have I lost some ‘friends’ in real life doing this? Yes. But they are friends that needed to go OR they are real friends who them ‘following’ me did not matter at the end of the day.

Do I use the Guides or App? I used the PDF Guides for BBG 1 & 2 and then subscribed to the app to move on to BBG 3.

What do I do for LISS? I have always loved running so I run outside on my LISS days. I am also training to run longer distances so this works in perfectly. There were a few days in the beginning where I walked for my LISS.

Do I follow the HELP nutrition guide? No, I did not purchase the HELP guide. I have lots of knowledge on how to eat healthy and what is best for my body. Obviously, sticking to that knowledge is something completely separate. So I did not need the HELP guides personally, but if you need help with what to eat, when, how much, I would recommend purchasing. For me, having completed 3 rounds of Whole30, I try to eat clean (no artificial ingredients) most of the time, cut out alcohol except for rare occasions, and allow myself balance to indulge in ice cream.
