Homemade Coconut Oil Deodorant
I first heard about natural deodorant when a friend was diagnosed with cancer in the lymph nodes. I had no idea the things we put on our skin could be harmful to our bodies. She went all natural in all her skin care products and I decided to try out making my own deodorant. Any way I can reduce my risk, I am all for!
This 3 to 4 ingredient deodorant is super simple to make and lasts a long time. Plus, you probably already have all the ingredients in your house! You know I workout, and sweat, a lot, and this deodorant works amazing! PLUS I haven’t noticed any odor differences since I changed from store bought brands to homemade. It works and it’s all natural, so I’m all for it! Below is the recipe I use from WellnessMama.
Quick and Easy Natural Deodorant Recipe
- 6 T Coconut Oil
- 1/4 cup (4 T) baking soda
- 1/4 cup (4 T) Arrowroot or Cornstarch
- Essential Oils (optional)
Instructions
- Mix baking soda and arrowroot or cornstarch together in a medium sized bowl.
- Mash in coconut oil with a fork until well mixed.
- Add essential oils if desired.
I put mine in a small plastic container, you can use a glass jar or old deodorant container. Because Coconut oil changes from a solid to a liquid in warmer heat, most of the summer my deodorant is in the fridge and I pop it out of the container and apply like a bar.
